HGTV Wallpaper in the Entry

Hello!  its been so long...please forgive my absence, retirement has been keeping me really busy!!. I just don't know where the time has gone. Thank you all so very much for all the sweet wishes on my retirement.
Way back in the late 70's and 80's Gary and "loved" wallpaper and wallpapered almost every room in our home! yep we sure did...LOL
I felt so sorry for the ones that had to rip it all off the walls when wallpaper went out of fashion.
I have always loved wallpaper and wanted to use it again but not on every wall.
While watching HGTV I saw a commercial about the new wallpaper line HGTV was sponsoring with Sherman Williams.
I began dreaming of wallpaper in the entry and of course my curiosity got the better of me and I just had to go see for myself all the patterns of wallpaper.
I fell in love with the bold red rose pattern when I first laied eyes on it and knew it was the one I wanted for the entry.
Gary also liked the pattern and agreed it was the right choice for our home.
So we ordered a double roll (that is how it was sold only in double rolls) we only needed one double roll it was enough to complete our entry and only papered 2/3 way up the wall.

The wallpaper was unpasted so we had to paste. I must say at first I was a bit worried about the process of pasting but to my surprise it was so easy and went up nicely, not much waste at all.
Gary put the chair-rail up for me  (thank you honey XO)
It was a bit hard to get good pictures for you since our front door has so much light coming through. We kept the door green, I think its OK, what do you think?.

This picture is a bit dark (sorry) but I wanted to show you more of the entry.  I'm  not very good at fixing the color on my photos. I guess I should take a photo class now that I am retired...( but I don't have time) hehehehehe.

So what have you all been up too?.

Me too...love wallpaper and wallpapered every room in the house back in the day. Every single one and I'd love it if it were to come back in style. It looks great and it holds up much better than paint and it doesn't make as much of a mess. Your hallway looks marvelous! Well done!

I grew up in a totally wallpapered house, and had paper in my kitchen til I moved. I kind of miss it, though. Your entry way looks great, such a happy and welcoming print. xo

It looks lovely. I never cared much for the color of red until I saw how bloggers use it and now I am in love with it too. I also like the color of your door.

Dearest Elizabeth,
What a combination with the lamp and the rug; perfect match! Don't tell me how hard it is to make photos with such light coming through the window... I had the very same problem with our office the other day for showing that renovation.
Thanks for your visit and comment.
Hugs,
Mariette

I think it looks lovely and the green door adds even more contrast! Love what you've done! I've been thinking of adding a feature wall with wallpaper in my bedroom and dining room. It's just a matter of coming across the right one! take care, Maryann

Hi Elizabeth,
I'm so glad that you are enjoying retirement.
I love your pretty wallpaper in the entry. It's such a lovely way to greet those that come through the door. Love everything about it!

I remember those days too. We had wallpapered nearly every room in the house and sold it that way. I wouldn't want to be the one that had to remove it. I'd still love to have a single wall or small bath wallpapered, and maybe I will after seeing yours.

Now THIS is an entrance! Absolutely gorgeous!

I think the wallpaper is beautiful but the door color is too light. I think a black door with the white trim and the rest of your furnishings would be gorgeous. In the end you should do what pleases you. It is your house.

Your entry way looks magnificent, I love the green door and the pretty rug with it. The wallpaper was a very good choice, in my opinion. The antiuque buffet looks wonderful there too! Your home has grown more gorgeous with each week, it seems!

I had no idea they had a wallpaper line! Definitely going to check it out! Yours turned out great - what a fun addition! Love the mint green door as well!

This is the story of my life. I spend years stripping wallpaper all over this place, and bam! Wallpaper comes back. This would be the reason I hesitate to paint too much furniture.

(And your entry looks terrific!)

Hi Elizabeth. I love wallpaper too and back in the day, I too have papered the whole house. Last house only had paper in laundry and powder room, but it was just right. Your entry way is perfect and the wallpaper just made it more inviting and cozy. Love the pattern you chose and the green door still looks wonderful. Hope you and Gary are enjoying your retirement this summer.

Oh Elizabeth - I LOOOOOOVE IT! I have so wanted to use wallpaper in our new house but I just can't get my hubby to bite. He usually lets me do anything decorating wise but he just doesn't understand why I want to "mess up brand new walls" as he puts it. I think you made a brillant choice - it is so happy looking! Great Job!

I miss wallpaper, I just have a few borders up now.
I may have to find a place to put some!

Just beautiful! I used to stay clear of red too but now it is one of my favorite decorating colors! Maybe some day I will become bold enough to actually wear red! LoL! Your entry way is perfect!
