~Sewing & Crocheting~

 Happy Monday to you all.
Thank you all  for the wonderful comments on Gary and I new retro appliances we really are enjoying them.
Did you all have a heat wave like we did over the weekend?. We had over 100 degree weather and our air conditioner pooped out! I'm melting......
Anyway I wanted to share with you a fun and easy quilt I made for my niece Amber, she is having a boy next month. I love bright colors for babies and the pinwheel block seems to be so colorful and happy for a little one. I also like to use primary colors. Amber's theme for her nursery is owls as you will see.

Look close and you will see owls quilted on the blanket.
 A closer look.
The back of the quilt all happy little owls with their big eyes just staring at ya...

I used orange fabric for the binding.
I always make a softy blanket its crib size and easy to take along for baby to sleep on or play on for the babies.
I love the turquoise blue fabric both sides are wonderfully soft and so cozy for babies to cuddle up with, Mommy too.

I saw a pattern for crochet diaper covers and I thought how fun are these! so I whipped up a few for our new nephew. I made a few different sizes so Amber can check out the sizes as he grows..
Another quick crochet project is this little lavender pillow I made for my grand-daughter, I enjoy crocheting while I'm watching TV. I found this  pattern and the pillow below
in the Goose Berry Patch Farmhouse Crochet book.

This afghan I made for a dear friend in the theme colors of our local football team the Oakland Raiders...So these are a few of  the projects I have completed lately. So tell me what have you been making to keep your little hands busy?

  4. Your projects are all so beautiful! Such a colorful baby blanket, with the quilted owl on top, fantastic. And your kitchen is gorgeous!

I just read your post on the sudden passing of your sister and shed a few tears myself. So very tragic and sad! It sounds like she was a very determined and successful lady! I'm so sorry for your family's loss.

    Best wishes and blessings, Tammy

  7. Hi Elizabeth,
You do make the most delightful quilts! The owl quilt is gorgeous and the new mom will enjoy it so much, I'm sure.
Your crocheted items are fabulous. You are amazing!!!
I haven't been doing much with my hands lately, to keep them busy. I'm taking care of two five year olds at the moment, they go back to their foster family tomorrow. They have kept me busy with keeping them fed.
    Have a gorgeous day!
    Hugs, cindy

  8. Dearest Elizabeth,

You have been very active in creating blankets and other goodies. The crocheted diaper covers look cute, hope they prove to be practical too for laundering with ease.
    Love to you,

    Mariette

  9. Oh for goodness sake....those owls making up the quilting is just too cute. You do a fantastic job with the quilting...that is something I have not tried and I don't think I will be. I just love quilts so it is a shame because they are expensive. But with all the work you put in them, I can see why! If I had made that, I would charge about ONE MILLION dollars!!

  12. Hi Elizabeth and Gary :O) I must say, I LOVE your appliances, that color yellow is beautiful and your kitchen is to die for! Now, you have been one busy crocheter Elizabeth, I love the pillows and all the littl blankets and the diaper covers are to cute for words..lol! I have been cross stitching a picture of roses when I have had time but I haven't gotten enough done to even show it on a post :o( BUT with any luck, I will be able to do more over this very hot weather week since I won't be venturing out doors too much. Have a wonderful week and I do hope they come fix your air conditioning really soon! Hugs Jennifer

  16. Elizabeth, YOU are wonderful. However, it sort of reminds me of my math teacher. On the board he would scribble a problem..and say "now this is a simple equation. Anyone can do this.." Anyone but ME! :) Those soakers are adorable..but the quilt with the owl quilting is..sooo cute. We have a little grandson due July 4th..but I think I already told you that. The store is my best bet I think~! I wouldn't want it to turn out like my math class! A big fat F!! :):)
    Love and hugs!

  17. Oh my, your little hands have been very busy. I love the quilt. I have been wanting to do a pinwheel quilt. Yours is so colorful and happy. Owls are so cute.
All that crochet too...I have never seen crocheted diaper covers. How clever and cute. Your granddaughter will love snuggling with her sweet pillow.
Yes, it was 108 in Bakersfield on Sunday, but hearing your air went out is terrifying in that heat. Hope you have it fixed by now.
    Stay cool.

  18. You never cease to amaze me with your skills! You are right, that owl fabric IS similar to the stuff I used on that bag! Too cute. And that red and white pillow...my granny made one for me once in blue and white.

Thinking of you and prayers for your heart to be at peace.
