~Freshing up the Kitchen~

Happy Monday to you all!. A few weeks back I won a giveaway from Catherine over at
"Pigment of your Imagination" Catherine is a folk artiest who paints the most amazing cupcakes, they are so enchanting and magical. I think they bring such whimsy and fun into the kitchen. I was able to choose a print of my choice and choose "Snickerdoodle Cupcake" it just happens that I love snickerdoodle cookies and so this was just the perfect cupcake to choose for my kitchen.
I framed it with white matting and a navy blue cottage wood frame, I love it so much!
Catherine also painted the cupcakes you see below the Snickerdoodle Cupcake print.

Here's a closer look you can click on the photo to enlarge it if you like. I love how the cupcake is displayed on a decorative white cake plate and covered with a  glass cloche. The colors are so pretty. I hope you can see just how pretty they really are. My photo's aren't always the best, but I do try.

So after hanging the cupcake's I was looking around the kitchen and said to myself, I think this hutch top is just not working! you know what I mean..when something just starts to bug you..So like any girl would do, I called out to my husband "Gary" and said we have to change this hutch, you should have seen his face "priceless". And so we did....LOL
I had forgotten all about these shelves that we had stored in our garage and re-found them while getting ready for a garage sale we had this weekend. Gary and I took the top off the hutch and he hung the two shelves up for me. I really like it and I think its a much cleaner look and less cluttered.

It's working for me now LOL, until I get ready to paint the shelves and the buffet white  : ) I have been wanting to try the new chalk paint, have you tried it yet?.

I recently purchased this hand made Cafe' sign from a dear friend of mine and Gary hung it up for me over the back door. I love this Cafe' sign and look its red!!!.  So there it is my  less cluttered kitchen...now if I can just stop myself from adding anything more...LOL. I'm such a clutter bug.
Have a sweet week and my your hearts be light and your spirit bright.

Dearest Elizabeth and Gary,

You both did a super job. It looks very nice; magazine material even! BUT it is not quite fair to compare one photo in daylight and one in 'soft' romantic evening light. Regardless the improvement on its own, the light does work wonders too. The yellowish hue just bounces off the walls; a very relaxed setting. Enjoy it and contain yourself for not building up again...

Lots of love,

Mariette

When you're right you're right. The shelves look so nice! I love Catherine's work and the Snickerdoodle cupcake looks right at home there. How nice that it tells a little story about you!

I love those cupcake paintings! Sometimes I feel like I have trouble making things mesh because I like too many different styles. Those paintings are a perfect blend of rustic and chic. The changes you made with the shelves look really nice.

I love what you did with your kitchen! It so opened it up and made it airy! It looks wonderful. You did a great job! Give your husband a big pat on the back for that well done job, then give yourself one. The cupcake painting is absolutely lovely! Congrats on your win! I know you were excited about that!

Lucky you! That cupcake looks too delicious. I like your new buffet look. What serendipity to find just the perfect shelves hiding in your garage.

That is a 'sweet' print you won--looks nice in your kitchen. I like your corner redo too. It has a nice balance. Gary, you're a good sport ;-)

I've wanted to try the paint chalk for a long time. I can't find it in a store and the price is a little high to order through Amazon last time I looked. Let us know if you try it!

I love the new look--I think it looks much better! As far as your comment on my blog, I had to chuckle--with you all it sounds like an excuse to buy another place, ha! Actually I REALLY love living a simpler life---it feels like I am on vacation in some ways and I have more time to live in the moment and enjoy the beauty around me!

Your kitchen and dining area looks so welcoming. Once that little "change bug" starts to work on your head, there is no stopping it, is there? :-) Good job with the shelves. Can't wait to hear how the chalk paint works on your hutch.

Your kitchen is lovely, the cupcake pictures are so sweet! I love them. As I was looking at the first photos I was thinking, that hutch is just so dark and big for that space and then the next photo showed it gone and the shelves there! I say PERFECT! Or until you paint the buffet and hutch, it will look great there then, I am thinking! I have heard good things about the chalk paint.
Are you still loving the curtains that I helped you with? I hope so! They look lovely.
Love and hugs, Cindy

Oh Elizabeth, I love what you did. Changing to shelves really opens it up in that corner! You decorate so pretty! And I had to laugh when you talked about the look on Gary's face when you asked him to take the top off the hutch! Sounds so familiar! I get that look from Roger now and then too!

Love the cupcake print. Good choice. Changing out the hutch top for shelves is really nice. It seems to lighten up the feeling of the room. Don't you love it when something "found" works out perfectly.
