Happy Monday everyone!. Another week just flew by and then the weekend went even faster....how does that happen LOL. This weekend I started a new quilt called the "Ohio Star".
I am still waiting for my king size "Double Irish Chain quilt" to come back from the "quilters". It should be done this week and then all that's left to do is the binding, but in the mean time while I wait I thought I would start on another quilt.
Here's the fabric I have chosen red white and blue so Americana I love it...The white and red check will be the strips in between the Ohio Star blocks and the white and red poke-a-dots will be the back of the quilt.
Now on to all the cutting.....
And more cutting.....
The Ohio Star block is made up of nine squares.
All nine squares sewn together to make one block....I can't wait to see the pattern unfold...I thinks that's what makes quilting so much fun for me, is to see the puzzle coming together. This is my third quilt and I am hooked...I know I should take a class or two or three...Hehehe, but I get so excited and can't wait to get stared, so I just read the instructions and go for it.
Does your sewing table look like my mine....LOL....look I even have two pairs of glasses out on the table. I also sew in my front room at the dinning room table so I can watch T.V. (is this bad) LOL.
Have a sweet day everyone and "Rember the days blessings and forget the days troubles"
Today I'am linking up with Susan from Between Naps on the Porch

Oh you fabulous woman, you! You don't need quilting lessons, you just need more hours in your day to do everything that you love doing!
How wonderful that you love quilting. I have made two quilts and I cannot say that I enjoyed it at all. I so wish that I did. But, I do enjoy sewing clothes, so that is what I will do.
Love and hugs, Cindy
Elizabeth: I'm so impressed with your quilting skills! You are doing far better than most people who have only made two other quilts. Hats off to you. I can't wait to see this one finished!!!
what a pretty quilt, you are very clever, visiting from BNOTP
I have always loved the Ohio Star and the patriotic colors just scream HAPPY! Good luck. : )

The quilt is going to be wonderful!! I'm not concerned about you not having a class....if you get stuck there are a gazillion tutorials on youtube and elsewhere on the net if you google what you need. You're doing fine!!
It is going to be amazing!! I love the beginnings of it.
I don't have a sewing table. When I sew I have to use my kitchen table. When I am done there is thread and bits of fabric everywhere lol.
I shipped your rooster out last Tuesday, parcel post. So you should have it sometime this week. Let me know when you get it ok?
Hugs,
Penny
I haven't quilted in a while - but I love that pattern. Can't wait to see how it comes out!

Hi there, Absolutely love this new quilt! I am working on an autumn quilt now for a friend(strip peicing)but it needs to get squared up before I add the borders.
Love your sewing table-yours is much neater than mine. My friend, I don't think you need lessons-except maybe to give some to us.
Hugs today. Noreen
Oh Miss E...I can't WAIT to see how it all comes out! How very, very exciting! Please don't FORGET to show us all when it's done.
I don't quilt. I wish I did. My grandmother quilted beautifully and so does my mother. I can't crochet either! Bah....
Love to talented YOU~

You definetly don't need quilting classes, Elizabeth. You are a full fledged quilter. Can't wait to see that king sized quilt on your bed.
I love your Ohio star...my favorite colors and one of my favorite blocks. I taught the Ohio Star many years ago. Yours will be great without a class.
Yes your table looks like mine only bigger.
Sewing and watching TV is the way to do it. I can't stand to just sit and watch TV without sewing. I can be with hubby and keep my hands busy too.
Sorry Elizabeth...goofed up that first comment!
Your Ohio Star is going to be a beauty...
I taught quilting for years and always loved it.
Anxious to see your quilt finished,
enjoy the process!

BTW have you ever been to the Sisters Outdoor Quilt show? It is amazing to say the least and you are "fairly close" living in Modesto...OK sort of close by a state :0)

PS now following you...
Hi Elizabeth! Oh, how beautiful your quilt is! I know this takes so much time as my mother is a quilter. She doesn't do too much any more being she is 88! :)
Thanks for popping in and I know you'll so enjoy your porch when you get it built in!
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)

Dearest Elizabeth and Gary,
You are a busy bee! Well, you make good use of your home and it serves you well. As long as you enjoy creating those quilts; go for it. I've never made one but I admire those that put so many hours into it.
Lots of love,
Mariette

Fantastic! I used to quilt but making a king size to the floor quilt did me in one year and when that was finished I never did another.
What a wonderful thing it is ...and admire those that do quilt. I know how much work goes into them...
That quilt is going to be beautiful. At least you can find your glasses, I always seem to be on the hunt for mine :)
