So many of you know Gary and I have been working on our kitchen since the day we moved in, not that it was in bad shape not at all, its just that it was not US. Our latest addition to the kitchen is "Shutters" I have wanted shutters ever since I first saw them and in my decorating mind I knew our kitchen was calling out for shutters. I had made so many curtains for the kitchen but still it was not the look I had hoped. We finally gave in and dug deep into our wallet and purchased shutters.
Can you see me smiling from ear to ear! I love them so much. No more curtains, now I have so many curtains. I think I will make a quilt out of all the curtain fabric...LOL.
So come along with me and I will show the new look in our kitchen.
The curtains one of the many I had made.
We also had a sky tube installed, boy does it give off great light during the day it floods the room with light, sometimes I think I have forgotten to turn the light off..LOL. We don't even have to use the lights at all during the day. I only turned then on to take the pictures.
The other day I wanted to try a new recipe called Kahlua Cake. I love Kahlua its so yummy I can drink it in coffee have it over ice or add a little milk. So so yummy, anyway where was I oh ya...the cake, so I baked a Kahlua Cake and the frosting was so good and creamy. The cake is not over sweet at all.
Gary put on the coffee and perked it to perfection and we enjoyed!
Enjoy the recipe!

You're right! The shutters are beautiful! I love them and the banquette and your gorgeous chairs, too!
Ohhhhhhhhh...and Chocolate Kahlua Cake - YUM!
Jan ♥
Good Morning Elizabeth,
I can see you smiling from here in England.
I love your shutters, they make your home look very Mediterranean.
A friend introduced me to Kahlua and I love it, so I am looking forward to trying out your chocolate cake.
Have a lovely, smiley day.
Best Wishes
Daphne
Hi Elizabeth and Gary! :o) YES! the shutters are perfect, I like them better than the curtains but the curtains are pretty just not in the kitchen. Love Love Love your home! The cake looks delicious and yummy...Have a wonderful Valentines week sweets! Hugs Jennifer
Oh! The shutters look so good in your kitchen!! The cake looks and sounds delicious too.
Shutters are a great look in your kitchen! Well done. Light becomes so important. I need light, too. No shutters or curtains for me as privacy isn't an issue, but if I had to choose, it'd be shutters, too.
I love your kitchen and dining area. Your chairs are beautiful, love the shutters, too, though I am an old timey curtain gal myself. Now I have a back door in my kitchen but no window! Your cake looks so good and the best coffee in the world is made in those glass percolators! Haven't seen one of those in a long time! xo
Love the shutters. My husband put them in through the whole house last year...and we love them. I also love your red chair covers!!
Dearest Elizabeth,
What a drastic improvement those shutters versus the fabric curtains. Our entire home has solid oak indoor shutters, painted white. Love them so much and less dust and more hygienic especially for a person with bronchitis or asthma problems like myself. Yours have the slanted blinds, hope they are easy to clean but at least far better than the fabric curtains that absorb all cooking odors etc. Enjoy them!
Hugs to you,
Mariette
Hi there, I absolutely love the look of your new shutters and especially your whole kitchen. I've never wanted shutters because I was afraid of the dust on them but yours look perfect. I also love all the details of your kitchen-so beautiful! Thanks for sharing, the recipe looks yummy.
Hugs, Noreen
HI Elizabeth! Oh, yes! Your shutters are gorgeous and look like they were meant to be there! Love the way your kitchen looks.
Be a sweetie,
shelia ;)
Gorgeous! I love the new shutters, every time you show you kitchen it is more and more lovely! So nice to hear that it makes you happy and it's what you've been wanting and it's the look you want!
Love the shutters, they look great. Your kitchen looks so warm and inviting...Oooh, I think I can even smell that coffee all the way here :-) Cake looks yummy. Happy Valentine's Week! Lots of hugs and kisses being sent your way.
Much love,
❤Ana
I love every single thing about your kitchen! It helps that there's lots of the yellow and red that I love, with natural wood cupboards that add warmth. I'm hoping for shutters this summer myself :)
Gotta try that cake! YUM!
Now girly...I have shutters throughout my home and I'm IN LOVE WITH THEM. I LOVE YOURS! Yes! You did good.
Hope you are well and smiling.
Love to you~
Rebecca
I love the shutters! I have no curtains in my kitchen because I didn't know what I wanted. My mother had one of those glass percolators. I may have to get one of those and try it out. I've not been happy with my new coffee maker.
E-The shutters in your kitchen are like frosting on your Kahlua cake! Perfect.
Fun seeing the old Pyrex percolator. We used to have one for camping trips on the Coleman stove. You are truly a retro girl! Hope to see you soon, sweetie.

I really like that look ! never even THOUGHT about shutters on the inside of a house, duh. Now I want them too! :)
Oh my goodness those shutter look wonderful. They just opened everything up. Your home is gorgeous anyway, but your shutter took it to a new level. I hope you are doing well. I am so glad you are back to blogging. Thank you for stopping by and leaving your sweet comment. I always love to hear from my sweet friend Elizabeth. Have a wonderful Valentine Day with your sweet hubby. Hugs, Karie

Wow--the kitchen is beautiful! And the coffeepot brought back an instant memory of my mom making coffee. Lovely. :)
Oh be still my heart! Plantation shutters AND chocolate cake? I must be in heaven.
Hi Elizabeth,
Of all of the homes on the many blogs I see, yours just stands out to me and I love all of your touches. The new shutters, oh yes ! They look beautiful, your instincts are right ! Enjoy and thanks for sharing your talents !
Elizabeth, I have always loved shutters. I had them in my bedroom at my previous home. No shutters here yet, hopefully someday. Love how pretty they look next to your yellow walls. Your kitchen is ever so sweet! Thanks for sharing with Share Your Cup.
hugs,
Jann
I love shutters and your kitchen is amazing! Your eating nook is precious, love your chairs. I could sit there for hours enjoying a cup of coffee...so warm and inviting!
Blessings,
Cindy
Elizabeth, Le Wow! I LURVE your new shutters! It really takes your already lovely kitchen up a notch! Great job!
I like how the kitchen seems more private now with the shutters. And don't they just create that warm and almost romantic atmosphere by limiting the natural coming in? ^.^ Your table can be set up for a candle lit dinner without much adjustments on the lighting!
Cool and fancy touch up. More please! Those shutters at the kitchen windows are truly aces! They give a stronger sense of importance to dining, by simply dressing up the room with added elements in the design.
