I Did It...I REALLY Did It !

I RETIRED!!! after 28 years at the same job I retired on April 1...yep April fools day LOL. It was a day full of tears as I said Good-By to wonderful co-workers and friends. I have so many special memories that I will hold close to my heart always.
28 years is a lot of life spent with  co-workers, you get used to seeing the same smiling faces everyday that greet you with a happy "Good Morning".
I have been so lucky and blessed to have worked so many years at the same place with so many sweet and amazing people.
A gift I received was this beautiful quilt wall hanging made by my friend Linda who is a talented quilter and who has inspired me and given me encouragement   to quilt. When the quilt was presented to me I could not hold back the tears, just look at the little bone Linda added for our little puppy Shiloh and she even used "Home is Where the Heart is".

I can't believe I really retired, there has been so much to do! the paper work to move monies over to new retirement funds, meeting with our retirement investors and re-applying for medical....crazy I tell ya! I have been so busy with paper work. I think maybe its taking longer since I retired way before 62.
My dear husband is 8 years older than me and he retired 18 months ago, he really pushed me to retire so we could spend time together enjoying life. I must admit I have been very nervous about retiring younger than 62 but I think I might just be getting used to it...
The month has just flown by with retiring and than we took a trip to Costa Rica, my sister n law and brother watched the "baby Shiloh" while we were away. Our little guy is growing up and getting into all kinds of mischief.
He loves his toys and chewies. Shiloh is so quite when he walks Gary put a bell on him so we would know where he was. Its so hard to be mad at him, he just looks  up at you with his sweet baby blues and we melt.
 Such a little rascal
The days have been busy with Shiloh and settling into retirement life. I'm sorry I have been MIA I have missed you all so much and now with retirement I will be able to read more and visit more!

Enjoy your week,
XO Elizabeth

Congratulations, Elizabeth! I retired at 55 and haven't regretted it, belt tightening is tough as I am single but it is going on 4 years already and I keep on plugging. I am not opposed to a nice (easy) p/t job if I can find one. ;-) The quilt hanging is beautiful, love the color and the use of your blog name. Wishing you and Gary the best, enjoy, and tomorrow will take care of itself! xo

Good Morning Elizabeth, Congratulations on retiring, you will soon get the hang of it....I retired in my 50's and at first it felt a little strange not going to work, but that feeling did not last long. I love the fact that the day is my own to do with as I wish. I am always busy and wonder where the days go.
Shiloh is growing up quickly and he is adorable.
Enjoy your retirement...you will love it.
Best wishes
Daphne

Dearest Elizabeth,
Happy 'early' retirement!
Guess you both have been smart about trying to have some quality time TOGETHER while it can. When we made our trip of 19 days to Spain & Portugal by bus from The Netherlands, we were with mostly widows. They all told us that with their husbands they'd wanted to take this trip but he died... So why not start earlier and do it together?!
Hugs to you,
Mariette

Happy Retirement! I retired at 55 and have not regretted it. I imagine you'll hear that a lot. And, I very much doubt that you'll have more time for blogging. I hope not! You're going to be more busy than ever before. Have a blast!

YaY~~~ Congratulations Elisabeth!!
I am a housewife and time flies when you are at home. You wake up and before you know it its 2pm and you haven't even started your day yet.. then you get caught up in the phone you hang up and its 5 ... then you go outside to water your plants and then come inside and then its 7 I am warning you time flies faster than the speed of lightning when you are at home...
So Make the most of it..
Relax with that cup of coffee and enjoy your time with Gary!!!

Yah Elizabeth! Congratulations. Gary is right. You needed to retire so the two of you could spend quality retirement time together. I have heard so many people say they are so busy when they retire, they dont't know how they had time to work. LOL I'm sure you will find plenty to do. What a sweet gift your friend made for you...so personal. I will be going to Sacramento in May...will call you so we can meet on my way thru Modesto...now that you are a retired lady.

Congratulations on your well deserved retirement Elizabeth! You will love retirement! And you will be amazed how busy you will be. I know we were. We've been retired five years now and having a ball traveling, enjoying our hobbies and just spending time together and not apart (at those darn jobs). Your little retirement quilt wall hanging gift is so cute too. But the cutest of all is that daring puppy! What fun you and Gary will have with that sweetness.
Hugs,
Sandy
