Summer at Charlevoix Quilt

Happy Monday Everyone! I was MIA for the last month, it seems just when I get back into the groove of blogging, I was called away again.
Gary and I spent the last month everyday at his parents home, cleaning and shinning every nick-nak and groove and cranny of every hutch and corner of their home. We even had the interior fully painted, hung new blinds and had the curtains cleaned, floor installed in master bathroom and kitchen tile steamed cleaned. I even managed to sew curtains and valences for the family room and kitchen. They now have a sparkling clean home to enjoy once more.
I hope to pick up where I left off and start my weekly posts.

So Many moons ago I started to make this black and white quilt for our daughter Desire', but as life is not always smooth I was unable to work on the quilt as much as  I wanted. I was bound and determined to complete this quilt, even though  many times I wanted to give up.
I think it has been by far the hardest quilt challenge for me since I started quilting. The quilt has 5 blocks and of course trim pieces and binding.
When I first saw the quilt pattern in (Quilter's World June 2011 issue), I thought it looked easy. Well I sure fooled myself I stopped counting the pieces after 1,852 .
I am so happy I stuck to it and completed the quilt (Summer at Charlevoix)

The quilt fits a queen size bed, I laid it over my king size bed for pictures.

Desire' has a queen size black sleigh bed and the quilt looks so pretty with her furniture.

I had some leftover fabric so I thought pillows would be a fun and playful  touch to add to the bed.
Love you to the moon and Back is Desire' and Paul's favorite saying. I think its so sweet! I surprised them with the embroidered  pillows.

Have a wonderful week everyone!

I am very glad you are back to quilting (and, of course, blogging)! I have missed you. The quilt is stunning! I love your choice of fabrics. The border fabric is absolutely perfect!!

I hope you can take a rest after all your generous hard work for the in-laws. But, if you are like me, I find quilting quite restful. Just make sure you are taking care of yourself!

Oh my that black and white quilt is gorgeous. I am so happy to hear from you. I haven't heard from you for quite sometime. We just get so busy with life. I appreciate your sweet comments on my blog. I know you have really had some trials the last couple of years. Losing your sister was such a hard thing. As you know grief is very personal, and it does last a life time, it just changes. I know only too well. Thank goodness we can still be happy, and still have a broken heart over the loss of a loved one. It is hard, but it can be done. Yes, I have had to go back to work. I am adjusting ok. It is only 20 hours a week, and it is a wonderful place. A elementary part-time secretary. I have summers off and all the days the kids have off. It is just something I had to do to keep my head above water. You are so blessed to have your hubby. I hope all is well with you, and please do keep in touch. I consider you a very good blogging friend. I will never see you in this life, but some day, I will search you out. I hope that is a long ways down the road of life though for both of us. LOL! Hugs to you, Karie

Hi Elizabeth. I have missed you. Hope everything is ok and that you are just busy. I haven't blogged as regularly either, so I know how life gets in the way sometimes. Anyway just wanted to check in with you.
Beautiful quilt. I love Black and White and have done my bedroom in it. Wish I had a pretty quilt like yours.

I'm impressed, I must say. Actually rarely can i encounter a blog that's both educative and entertaining, and without a doubt, you could have hit the nail about the head. Your idea is outstanding; the thing is something that too few individuals are speaking intelligently about. We are delighted that we came across this around my try to find some thing with this.메이저사이트
