~A New Year to Create~

I'm back and boy have I missed you! It seems like forever since I have posted. Before I start my post I want to say "Thank You" to everyone that has left me such sweet and kind notes here on my blog and in  emails. Your compassion just filled my heart with love and my eyes with tears..."Thank You" for caring about me and my family.
Sometimes you just need a break to regroup your life and sometimes its just good to rest your mind and heart.
I can't wait to catch up with you all and to see what you all have been up too. I have been keeping my hands busy. Many many years ago I made this counted cross stitch cabin and had put it into a frame but grow tired of it in the fame, so I took it out and cross stitched the hearts and trimmed down the size and made it into a  little pillow to sit on the demi chair in our guest room. I went to my fabric statch and found left over drop cloth fabric that I had used to sew the pleated chair cover, now they both match.
It's the perfect little chair to sit on to put your shoes and socks on.

For my first quilt of 2013 I have begun sewing a quilt I found in the Nov./Dec. 2012 Quilt Magazine. I fell in love with the cover quilt call Star Light Star Bright.
Each square is 16 inches and there is only two squares to the pattern along with sides of different fabrics.
This star has 37 pieces to it.
And this star has 21 pieces.
Here's a  picture of three squares sewn together. It was raining today and very dark inside the house so this picture is looking a bit dull..but you can get the general idea of the pattern.

I of course changed the colors and fabric from what was
shown in the pattern. Red always stills my heart, so my
Star Light Star Bright quilt  is going to be red.
At night while watching TV I have  been knitting a scarf, but I ran out of yarn so back to the store I go...It's a very simple pattern. All you do is,  row one knit one purl one across, second row knit the row...and repeat.
So tell me what you have been creating.....

Wishing you all a very happy and peaceful week.

Good to see you back Elizabeth! I love your pillow and the pleated chair cover! WOW, another quilt - it's going to be just beautiful. That's going to be a lovely and warm scarf!

I haven't been up to much, except cleaning and rearranging my office and making it prettier! I broke my toe on New Year's Eve day - cracked it into woodwork, while trying to avoid stepping on one of our rambunctious little pups!! OUCH!

Oh I like your sweet header and your wonderful formerly framed piece made into a pillow. Your quilting skills just amaze me. The way you select your colors does as well. So glad to find you back posting...Happy New Year!

Love the cross stitch made into pillow. I made a bureau scarf years ago in cross stitch. Your quilt looks lovely too, my mom quilts. She has made many.

I also knit in the beginning stage, have made a scarf and starting afghan. There is a knitting store close to me that offers classes and I love it.

Dearest Elizabeth and Gary,
You did so well on that pillow by adding the hearts it is perfect!
We understand your sentiments and yes, he holidays are the hardest to live through when having lost loved ones. Again on January 4, I missed being with family as my Daddy turned 92; did post about it. Who knows if I ever see my Parents again? Tough but we stay busy. We're now replacing the wooden baseboards in our gues bathroom, hallway and kitchen + laundry room where there is a tile floor. We've added a tiled shower in our bathroom, instead of the tub and we are glad that came together before Christmas. No time for some hand craft though.
Hugs to you,
Mariette

Hello dear Elizabeth,
I adore the little pillow that you made from your cross stitch, it's perfect on the little chair. Your quilt is gorgeous!!! You are so talented. That's a lovely scarf you're making too. I'm not creating anything at the moment, but my mind is full of things that I want to do... soon. I think I will start with painting several rooms of my little bungalow first, though.
Today I have been thinking about my master bedroom, not a room that I love at all... it presents too many decorating dilemmas, but I have in my mind to make a soft velvet throw for the bottom of my bed... perhaps painting the walls a soft moss green and putting a large rug that I have, in there, too. It needs to be masculine feeling, but soft too. I hope to get going on that soon. But first I will need to find some really inexpensive OOPS paint in the right shade of green.
Hugs, Cindy

Good Morning Elizabeth, It is lovely to catch up with you again. Your cushion is beautiful and I adore your Star Light, Star Bright blocks. The colour is just perfect. I enjoy knitting in the evening whilst watching tv. I am knitting my daughter a blanket, most of the knitting is completed,so I am almost ready to start sewing it together. I cannot wait for her to see it, as I know she will love it.
Have a lovely day. Best Wishes Daphne
