Sewing & Knitting & Crocheting OH MY!

 Good Morning Monday! And what a grand day it is to write a blog post.
Busy hands, that is what I have had a lot of lately. Our family has been blessed with another baby on the way due in August. My niece is having a boy Mason Mark.
So of course I went to work making blankets.
Also a family friend is due to have a baby also in August (a girl).  So today I thought I would share with you all a few baby gifts I have been creating.
First off for baby girl no name yet Mommy and Daddy want to see her precious face before naming her (although I have been told Mommy and Daddy have two names picked out).
I enjoy sewing blankets in flannel and fleece, the colors and patterns are so pretty now and there are so many amazing prints to choose from. I fell in love with the pastel colors and little leaves and flowers on this flannel.
The baby girl sweater and booties are crochet and the pattern is from the book (Surprise Crochet Sweaters for Baby by Darla Sims).  I use cotton yarn when making baby sweaters.  

 How I love polka dots! they are such happy little dots! and I love adding the little p.s. I love you tag.

 Two fun blankets to sew in a few hours.  I watch TV while I sew, do you?

 Now for the blankets I made for my new nephew. I used the same pattern from Missouri Star Quilt Company.
And there's Shiloh he looks like he jumped off the blanket LOL. He was sleeping and didn't like that I disturbed him, just look at his face expression  LOL.

 The puppies are so adorable I think.

 A little knitted hat and booties. At first I left them kinda plain and then I thought they needed something, So I made a little M for the hat and changed out the booties ties from black to blue.

 You know how tiny the baby is when we bring them home and the car seats seem to swallow then up so to speak, well I thought why not make a tiny blanket just to fit a car seat since a regular size receiver or blanket is just to much for a new born. I made a small crochet car seat blanket.
I went on line and found the pattern for the (Football Embellishment  here)

 The crochet blanket is my own design.

 My niece and her husband live in the S.F. bay area where the Oakland A's are very popular. They attend quite a few baseball games and bring along their 3 year old son, who has become quite the Fan! So as a gift for my 3 year old nephew Makai and his new baby brother Mason I made them a blanket to share while going to the games or watching from home.

 I used fleece on one side and flannel on the other. Gary just bought me a new sewing machine and I just had a class on the embroidery functions. This was my first attempt at it.
I used the Disney charactures since this little family also loves Disney land and often visits Mickey so this was a double gift they can use it at the games and while at Disney land.

 And the last blanket for all the SF bay area peeps the SF 49er's ! I put the  baby's name on it. Teehehe the 49er's are Mommy's team and the Oakland Raiders are Daddy's team ...I think I might make a Raider one for Daddy, but don't tell him OK....LOL

 Oh ya, one more thing a little knitted hat in gold and red, the team colors of the NINERS! 

I sure do enjoy making blankets of all sorts whether its a quilt, a sewn blanket, crochet or knitted. A home made blanket is like a big (Hug).

Update on Gary's Achilles Tendon Surgery - He is doing very well, had the original surgical cast bandage removed last Monday and a hard cast put on that he will wear for another 3.5 weeks a total of about 6 weeks in a cast.
The incision was about 12 inches long and 40 staples. Poor guy! 
We rented a kneeling scooter for him to get around in so much easier, the wheel chair is just to heavy for me to lift in and out of the car ( I'm kinda wimpy)

~A New Year to Create~

I'm back and boy have I missed you! It seems like forever since I have posted. Before I start my post I want to say "Thank You" to everyone that has left me such sweet and kind notes here on my blog and in  emails. Your compassion just filled my heart with love and my eyes with tears..."Thank You" for caring about me and my family. 

 Sometimes you just need a break to regroup your life and sometimes its just good to rest your mind and heart.

I can't wait to catch up with you all and to see what you all have been up too. I have been keeping my hands busy. Many many years ago I made this counted cross stitch cabin and had put it into a frame but grow tired of it in the fame, so I took it out and cross stitched the hearts and trimmed down the size and made it into a  little pillow to sit on the demi chair in our guest room. I went to my fabric statch and found left over drop cloth fabric that I had used to sew the pleated chair cover, now they both match. 

It's the perfect little chair to sit on to put your shoes and socks on.

For my first quilt of 2013 I have begun sewing a quilt I found in the Nov./Dec. 2012 Quilt Magazine. I fell in love with the cover quilt call Star Light Star Bright.

Each square is 16 inches and there is only two squares to the pattern along with sides of different fabrics.

This star has 37 pieces to it.

And this star has 21 pieces.

Here's a  picture of three squares sewn together. It was raining today and very dark inside the house so this picture is looking a bit dull..but you can get the general idea of the pattern.

I of course changed the colors and fabric from what was 

shown in the pattern. Red always stills my heart, so my

Star Light Star Bright quilt  is going to be red.

At night while watching TV I have  been knitting a scarf, but I ran out of yarn so back to the store I go...It's a very simple pattern. All you do is,  row one knit one purl one across, second row knit the row...and repeat.

~Cutie Patootie Baby Sweater~

 Happy Monday everyone! I hope your week was a good one.
I have been busy clanking my knitting needles to make this little sweater. I have had this pattern for years and just never made it. I went into a little yarn shop in town where I live and saw a variegated yarn that caught my eye. I always have fun using a variegated yarn since you never know what  its going to end up looking like, its a big suprise!.  And then this pattern for the Cutie Patootie Sweater came to mind and I thought it might make up  nicely using this yarn.
The yarn is Jawoll Magic by Lang Yarns it a 150g ball and is 6 ply. I used one ball and had left over yarn. Jawoll Magic was $28.00 for one ball.  I used the same yarn but doubled it when I crocheted the trim around the neck, hem, front and sleeves.

 With the leftover yarn I knitted up these little booties.

While going through my yarn stash I found leftover yarn and decided to knit up these very simple little hats. I think I will add flowers to them.I just have to find a crochet flower pattern I like and then I will make crochet flowers for them..

So what have you been working on?. Right now I'm knitting hats for the boys, don't tell them OK...the hats will be for Christams...

~Crochet Blanket Gifts & A Thank-You~

 Happy Monday to you all...What do you do while watching TV ? I crochet or knit, I know it must look like watch a  lot of TV..LOL, but really I don't, well OK every night I watch TV.
The first blanket I would like to share with you is a gift for my little brother, I  had knitted him a sweater that turned out way to big, so I thought a blanket was a much safer gift to make.

 I used Vanna White yarn, I really like her yarn and the color choices she has. The pattern is from  (Goose Berry Patch Farmhouse Crochet). I changed the colors to use the ones my brother Mark would like. Also I prefer to slip stitch my panels together, I think to goes much quicker than using a darning needle.

 This Red sweetie was a Christmas gift to two very special kids that we adore.

 The pattern is one I have used many times, I don't even have it written down, you know its one of those you keep in your head..I also used Vanna White yarn for this project.

 This was the first time I used Deborah Noville yarn. Its very soft but I think it knits up nicer than crochet.

  We have another niece expecting a baby in July..We are thinking Pink since she has been blessed with two boys already, but will not know if its a girl or boy until the end of the month.

 I love crocheting the trim, I just never know what I'm going to do until the blanket is done. This baby blanket is a new born size.

The bundle is from Jodi of Fort Worth fabric Studio. If you have not meant Carolyn or Jodi please drop by for a visit. I know you will LOVE their blogs as much as I do. Carolyn has the most amazing quilt studio I have ever seen. It should be in a craft magazine or Romantic Home magazine and you should see her quilts so beautiful every stitch! 
 Jodi has gorgeous fabrics the prints and colors are so pretty, its hard to choose wich ones to buy, I LOVE all of them, my mind was whirling around with pattern ideas of what to quilt with all the beautiful fabric choices.. I can't believe my name was picked, I am so thrilled. Now what am I going to make..Well I think this sweet valentine bundle fat quarter will make a fabulous baby quilt. Thank you so much Carolyn and Jodi I Love the fabric so much..
