~Three Tables~

In January my Uncle passed away (my Mom's brother John) One of his passions was woodworking. He made these three tables many years ago, they are made of pine with table tops that lift off. Plenty of storage for yarn and magazines. They also hide all the remote controls (I love that). I just couldn't leave them and so we brought them home and gave them a good cleaning and some fresh wood stain.
They remind me of simpler times when the furniture was crafted by the man of the house.
Gary and I use Minwax wood stain. They have many colors to choose from now, we chose a blue and a red stain. I didn't want to change them to much because Uncle John had made them. So Gary and I thought just changing the table top color would refresh them and bring new life to these very old tables.
And Wa-La here they are. I adore this shade of blue. It went on very nicely after we sanded all the varnish off.

The red table top had a lamp post and the lampshade that was on it was in very bad shape, so we purchased a new shade and I added a bit of whimsy. These little tables are a perfect size to nestle into a small corner.

Enjoy your week and keep warm, we had a lot of rain and hail off and on today. I couldn't wait to get home from work and curl up on the couch by the fire and crochet.
Big hugs to you all~Elizabeth

Elizabeth,
I love your pine tables and the blue. I came over from Sweet Nothings, so now I will follow. I have pine in my cape cod house, so I love it! The blue top is a great look. Please come over and visit sometime. Love your blog.
Robin
p.s. looks as if you are a bit of a 70's girl like me. I have some 70's things posted, as well.

I love these tables. I really love that they open up and have such a big space for storage. Perfect for your crochet supplies! I like the idea about storing the remotes too. Mine is always getting lost around here! LOL

Just knowing that your Uncle made them with his own hands makes them so special.

Hi Elizabeth,
The picture of the cape cod home, is our home. All of the interior pictures are take at our Bed and Breakfast main house and cottage which we ran for 6 yrs and now have for sale. We are living now in one of the cottages at the Inn. I have one interior shot of the cape cod, our home labeled under "My Garden Party Table." We are planning to move back there early summer. We have owned the cape cod since 1985. I can't wait, as I love my little house. Plans of a dining addition and garage are in the works, as soon as we sell the Inn.
Best,
Robin

Oh Elizabeth - these tables are adorable! And what a treasure to have them made by an uncle. They are great for holding yarn. And look nice too. I'm using a large wicker basket and two plastic bins to hold my yarn in the family room and not really happy having it out. I think a cedar chest would be nice but don't know if I have room for it. Well, I like your tables and that color blue is to die for.

We used to have one similar when I was a child. They are great for yarn!!

ps. After seeing your post with the troll dolls the other day, I searched and found my two. They are now standing on my windowsill in one of my bathrooms--I smile when I see them.

Glad you found a way to incorporate those into your home. I get very sentimental about things family has made. As a matter of fact the very table my computer is on my brother made. He passed away too young at 49 with a rare cancer, and it is so precious to me to have and use. I love the trim on the lamp shade, so very cute! Happy Sunday!

Warmly, Nancy

These are beautiful! So wonderful to appreciate an artisan. He did beautiful work.
I also loved your little "Wa-La"...heheheh! My daughter took French classes and taught me the word, it is voila. It comes from a French expression literally meaning “look there!” Just a little fyi. heheheh!
Loved your post!
Blessings on your week!
